I efterhand kan diagnosen stödjas om serumtryptas (tecken på mastcellsaktivitet) höjs inom ett par timmar efter reaktionen jämfört med patientens normala nivå.⁴

Bevis på IgE-sensibilisering i pricktest eller in-vitrotest kan också hjälpa diagnosen med provokationstest, vilket är idealiskt tillsammans med möjliga kofaktorer.⁴
